"I grew up in rice terraces.I learned Bali before I learned to drive."— Made

The guide behind the route
Local guide · Ubud, Bali
My name is Made — a traditional Balinese name, given to the second child in every family. I was born in Ubud and I've spent my whole life exploring this island, on foot and by road.
I started as a driver. Then people started asking me to stop, to explain, to take them somewhere different. That's when I became a guide. Every trip I do is a conversation, not a tour.
I know which rice terrace is quiet at 7am. I know the temple where the ceremony is on Tuesday. I know the warung where you eat like a local for two euros. That's what I share.
Book a tripWhat I believe in
Bali has a version for tourists and a version for people who really want to see it. I show you the second one.
The best part of every trip is the conversation in the car. Languages, food, life. That connection is what people remember.
I don't use Google Maps. I use thirty years of driving every road on this island, twice.
